Santo Servicio is the Portuguese Jewish community’s choir. The all-male choir performs during holidays and special occasions. Santo Servicio performs during special hazanut concerts, memorial days and hupot (marriage ceremonies). The choir recently performed in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix during the Esnoga’s official re-opening, prime minister Netanyahu’s visit to our synagogue and during the opening of the Jewish Cultural Quarter by HRH Prince Willem Alexander.
Santo Servicio, sometimes referred to as Santo Servico, was founded in 1886. The choir consisted of more than 100 men and sopranos. Only a handful survived the war. In 2003 the choir was reconstituted, basing itself on the original scores.
